Updated November 6, 2026. Written by Binyamin Elkalay. Compared on specs and Israeli shop prices, no lab testing.

The short answer: a ⁦45 cm⁩ (18 in) slim dishwasher holds ⁦9–10⁩ place settings, suits a couple or a family of up to ⁦3–4,⁩ and costs in Israel about ₪⁦1,200–2,200⁩ (NIS) for basic freestanding models, about ₪⁦1,900–3,400⁩ for quieter models, and about ₪⁦2,200–4,000⁩ for integrated models hidden behind a cabinet panel. Before choosing, decide three things: freestanding or built-in, 9 or 10 place settings, and how much noise matters to you.

This guide is based on product pages and price comparisons at Israeli stores in November 2026. We did not physically test the dishwashers. If you’re still deciding between a slim and a countertop dishwasher, start with our small dishwasher guide.

What to look at before buying

What to checkWhat it isOur recommendation
Freestanding, integrated or semi-integratedA freestanding slim dishwasher stands alone or under the counter. A fully integrated one is built into a cabinet and takes a panel. A semi-integrated one is built in but the control panel is visible. In an existing kitchen or a rental, freestanding. In a new kitchen with uniform cabinets, integrated. We explain the difference in our semi-integrated dishwasher guide.
Place settingsThe official capacity measure. On a slim dishwasher: 9 or 10.Get 10 place settings if you can. The difference is noticeable when there’s a pot or pan. 9 place settings, as on the Sauter SDW1045, suit a couple.
NoiseNoise level in decibels per the specs.⁦44 dB⁩, as on the Electrolux EEM43200L, is relatively quiet for a slim dishwasher. 46 is reasonable. 49 is clearly audible in an open kitchen.
DimensionsWidth, height and depth, and niche height on built-in models.Freestanding: about 45×84.5×⁦60 cm⁩, like the Electrolux ESM43200SX. Built-in: about ⁦81.5–⁦82 cm⁩⁩ high. Also measure the depth to the wall.
DryingResidual-heat drying, automatic door opening (AirDry) or a heat exchanger.Automatic door opening at the end of the program improves drying without extra electricity. Per the specs it’s on the Electrolux ESM43200SX and EEM43200L.
Flood protectionAquaStop or WaterStop shuts off the water in case of a leak.Especially important on a built-in dishwasher, where a leak is discovered late. Per the listings it’s on the De’Longhi WMD20S, Electrolux EEM43200L and Bosch SPV2HKX42E.
Importer and warrantyAn official importer (yevuan rasmi) provides service and parts.Per the listings: Electrolux through Mini Line, Sauter through Electra, Bosch and Siemens through BSH. Check this on every order.

Who is a slim dishwasher for?

A ⁦45 cm⁩ slim dishwasher suits kitchens without ⁦60 cm⁩ free, a couple or a family of up to ⁦3–4,⁩ and homes that want a second dishwasher, for example for dairy.

A slim dishwasher is a regular dishwasher in every way: same height, same depth, same tap and drain connection, just ⁦15 cm⁩ narrower. The main difference is capacity: ⁦9–10⁩ place settings versus ⁦13–14⁩ on a full-size dishwasher. In practice, a 10-place-setting dishwasher holds a dinner for a family of four with a small pot, or a couple’s meal with a few pots and pans.

When a slim dishwasher is the right choice:

  • You have a ⁦45 cm⁩ cabinet and can’t free up ⁦60 cm⁩.
  • You’re a couple, or a young family with one or two small children.
  • It’s a second dishwasher in a kosher home, for example a full-size one for meat (basari) and a slim one for dairy (chalavi).
  • A small apartment where every ⁦15 cm⁩ of cabinet counts.

When to think again:

  • A family of 5 or more, or a home that hosts a lot on Shabbat. You’ll run the dishwasher twice a day and wash pots by hand.
  • If you can move a cabinet and free up ⁦60 cm⁩. The price difference between a slim and full-size dishwasher from the same brand is usually small, and capacity increases by about 40%. The full comparison of full-size dishwashers is in our best dishwasher guide.

Slim or countertop dishwasher? A countertop dishwasher is smaller (⁦6–8⁩ place settings), needs no cabinet and suits renters. A slim dishwasher needs space under the counter, but holds more and leaves the counter free. If you have a ⁦45 cm⁩ cabinet you can give up, a slim dishwasher is almost always better. We cover countertop dishwashers in our countertop dishwasher guide.

What about a drawer dishwasher? The comparison page also has a drawer dishwasher category, but they’re rare in stores and expensive, and we didn’t check them in this guide.

Slim freestanding, integrated or semi-integrated?

In an existing kitchen or a rental apartment, get a freestanding slim dishwasher; in a new kitchen where all the cabinets match, get a fully integrated slim dishwasher; and if you want to see the panel without opening the door, get a semi-integrated one.

The slim dishwasher comparison page lists more than 120 models, about half of them built-in. The differences:

Slim freestanding: it has its own front and top. It can stand alone or go under the counter. Typical height is about ⁦84.5 cm⁩, as on the Electrolux ESM43200SX, which measures 45×84.5×⁦60 cm⁩ per the listing. More examples: De’Longhi WMD20S, Sauter SDW1045, Midea WQP8-W7634C, Beko DVS05026X and Bosch SPS2HKI58E.

Slim fully integrated: no front and no top. It goes into a niche under the counter and takes a cabinet panel screwed onto the door. The control panel is on the top of the door and visible only when open. Typical height is about ⁦81.5–⁦82 cm⁩⁩. Per the specs, the Electrolux EEM43200L adjusts between 81.8 and ⁦89.8 cm⁩ and is ⁦55 cm⁩ deep. More examples: Bosch SPV2HKX42E, Siemens SR61HX16KE (⁦44.8 cm⁩, 10 place settings, ⁦46 dB⁩ per the page), AEG FSE73507P, Midea WQP8-W7704M and the Beko DIS48120 with 11 place settings.

Slim semi-integrated: built in like an integrated model, but the control panel is visible above the panel. Examples: Bosch SPI2HKS42E, Electrolux EES42210IX and De’Longhi WMD26HI.

What does this mean for price? A basic slim freestanding dishwasher starts at about ₪1,200. A slim integrated dishwasher starts on the comparison page at about ₪1,450 (Midea WQP8-W7704M) and reaches about ₪4,000 and more for Bosch and Siemens models. On top of that you pay for the cabinet panel and installation by a carpenter or installer.

Tip: in a new kitchen, decide on the model before the carpenter finalizes the plan. The plinth height, countertop depth and tap location affect what will fit. We cover niche dimensions in our integrated dishwasher guide.

9 or 10 place settings, noise and water: how to read the specs

On a slim dishwasher the three important numbers are place settings (9 or 10), decibels (⁦44–49⁩) and liters per cycle (about ⁦9–10⁩); the energy rating matters less, because most slim dishwashers are rated E on the new scale.

Place settings: a place setting is a standard set for one diner. The difference between 9 and 10 sounds small, but on a slim dishwasher it’s noticeable: room for a small pot or a few bowls. Among the models we checked, the Sauter SDW1045 holds 9 place settings, and the rest 10. For the Bosch SPV2HKX42E, listings contradict each other (9 or 10), so check the importer’s page.

Noise: per the pages we checked:

  • Electrolux EEM43200L: ⁦44 dB⁩.
  • Electrolux ESM43200SX, Bosch SPV2HKX42E and Siemens SR61HX16KE: ⁦46 dB⁩.
  • Sauter SDW1045: ⁦49 dB⁩.
  • De’Longhi WMD20S: not stated.

Every ⁦3 dB⁩ is a noticeable difference. In a kitchen open to the living room, ⁦44–⁦46 dB⁩⁩ is the maximum worth considering. In a closed kitchen, or if you run it when no one’s home, 49 is reasonable.

Water: a slim dishwasher uses about ⁦8.9–9.9⁩ liters per Eco cycle per the specs: Sauter SDW1045 about 9 liters, Siemens SR61HX16KE about 8.9 liters, Electrolux ESM43200SX and EEM43200L about 9.9 liters. That’s close to what a full-size dishwasher uses, so per item a slim dishwasher is less efficient, but still more efficient than washing by hand in most cases.

Energy: product pages sometimes show two ratings: the old one (A, A+) and the new one (A to G). The same model can be A on the old scale and E on the new, as shown in some listings for the Electrolux ESM43200SX and Siemens SR61HX16KE. Only compare new rating with new. The annual electricity cost difference between ratings on a slim dishwasher is usually tens of shekels, so it’s a secondary consideration.

Drying: on cheap slim dishwashers, dishes come out wetter, especially plastic. Automatic door opening at the end of the program, like Electrolux’s AirDry, helps. Rinse aid helps on any dishwasher.

Bosch and Siemens slim dishwashers

Bosch and Siemens, imported by BSH, have the widest range of slim dishwashers: freestanding, integrated and semi-integrated, from Serie 2 up to Serie 4 at Bosch and iQ100 at Siemens.

Bosch slim dishwashers, what we saw on the comparison page:

  • SPS2HKI58E (freestanding, Serie 2): 10 place settings, rating E, from about ₪2,480. We cover it in our small dishwasher guide.
  • SPS2HKW58E (freestanding, white): 10 place settings, from about ₪2,600.
  • SPS4EMI11E (freestanding, Serie 4): per the specs ⁦44 dB⁩ and a B rating, rare on slim dishwashers. We cover it in our small dishwasher guide.
  • SPV2HKX42E (fully integrated, Serie 2): 10 place settings, ⁦46 dB⁩, about ₪⁦2,350–3,990.⁩
  • SPI2HKS42E (semi-integrated, Serie 2): ⁦46 dB⁩, ExtraDry and Home Connect per the listings, about ₪⁦2,700–3,950.⁩
  • SRV2HKX39E (fully integrated): 9 place settings, from about ₪2,000.

Siemens: the iQ100 SR61HX16KE is a fully integrated slim dishwasher ⁦44.8 cm⁩ wide and ⁦81.5 cm⁩ high, with 10 place settings, ⁦46 dB⁩ and 8.9 liters per cycle, at about ₪⁦2,840–⁦3,560. W⁩⁩e cover the brand in our Siemens dishwasher guide.

Why choose a Bosch or Siemens slim dishwasher? Service from a long-established importer, many stores, AquaStop on most models, and programs like machine cleaning and app control. The downside: a price ₪⁦1,000–2,000⁩ higher than slim models from De’Longhi, Sauter or Midea with similar capacity.

When is it worth it? When the dishwasher is built in and a leak would be expensive, when the kitchen is open and noise matters, or when you want a dishwasher that lasts many years with available service. If you’re comparing all Bosch models, including full-size, see our Bosch dishwasher guide.

Warranty: the BSH group offers an extension to three years for an extra ₪199, where the two extra years are a limited warranty. On a ₪3,000 slim dishwasher, that’s usually a reasonable expense.

How much does a slim dishwasher cost in Israel?

A slim dishwasher costs about ₪⁦1,200–3,400⁩ in Israel for freestanding models and about ₪⁦1,450–4,000⁩ for built-in models, based on store prices in November 2026.

What we saw on the comparison pages:

  • Sauter SDW1045 (9 place settings): about ₪⁦1,400–1,870.⁩
  • De’Longhi WMD20S (10 place settings, third drawer): about ₪⁦1,290–2,190.⁩
  • Midea WQP8-W7634C: from about ₪1,290 on the comparison page.
  • Beko DVS05026X: from about ₪1,500.
  • Electrolux ESM43200SX (AirDry): about ₪⁦1,900–3,440.⁩
  • Electrolux EEM43200L (integrated, ⁦44 dB⁩): about ₪⁦2,220–2,790.⁩
  • Bosch SPV2HKX42E (integrated): about ₪⁦2,350–3,990.⁩
  • Siemens SR61HX16KE (integrated): about ₪⁦2,840–3,560.⁩

Watch the gaps: for the Electrolux ESM43200SX we saw a difference of more than ₪1,500 between the cheapest and most expensive store, and for the Bosch SPV2HKX42E about ₪1,600. The difference comes from store policy, display models and sometimes warranty terms. Compare the final price including delivery, carrying to your floor, installation and removal of the old dishwasher.

What else goes in the budget:

  • Installation: for a freestanding model, connection to an angle valve, drain and outlet. At most stores, for an extra charge.
  • Cabinet panel: for an integrated model, a panel from the carpenter and its installation.
  • Salt, rinse aid and tablets: an ongoing expense.
  • Warranty extension: optional.

Cheap slim vs full-size: a basic full-size dishwasher with ⁦13–14⁩ place settings starts at about ₪1,300, roughly the same as a basic slim one. If you have the space, a full-size dishwasher gives more capacity for the same price.

Where to spend extra on a slim dishwasher: first on 10 place settings instead of 9, then on flood protection, and only then on quiet and programs. An app and remote control are nice, but on a slim dishwasher they don’t change the result on your dishes.

Installation, dimensions and limescale on a slim dishwasher

A slim dishwasher connects like any dishwasher: angle valve, drain to the trap and a 16-amp outlet, but before ordering it’s important to measure the net width, depth to the wall and height to the underside of the countertop.

How to measure:

  • Width: measure at three points (top, middle and bottom) and take the smallest. In older apartments a ⁦45 cm⁩ cabinet is sometimes ⁦44 cm⁩ net. The Electrolux EEM43200L is ⁦44.6–⁦45 cm⁩⁩ per the specs, and the Siemens SR61HX16KE is ⁦44.8 cm⁩.
  • Depth: a freestanding dishwasher is about ⁦60 cm⁩, and a built-in one about ⁦55–⁦57 cm⁩⁩. Leave room for the hoses and tap behind.
  • Height: a freestanding dishwasher is about ⁦84.5 cm⁩, so the countertop must be higher than that. A built-in dishwasher needs a niche of about ⁦81.5–⁦82 cm⁩⁩ or more, depending on the model.
  • Door opening: make sure the door opens fully without catching on an oven handle or a corner.

Installation: a freestanding dishwasher is relatively simple to install. An integrated dishwasher also requires fitting the panel, precise leveling and attaching the panel to the door, and it’s better to have an experienced installer do it.

Electricity: a slim dishwasher plugs into a regular outlet (Israel runs on 230V/50Hz). It’s better not to share the outlet or power strip with a kettle, microwave or built-in oven.

Limescale: water in most areas of Israel is hard. On installation day, set the water hardness on the dishwasher, fill the salt compartment and add rinse aid. Every month or two, run a machine-cleaning program, available per the listings on the Electrolux ESM43200SX and Bosch SPV2HKX42E, and clean the filter.

First cycle: run an empty cycle to rinse out manufacturing residue and check there are no leaks at the connections.

How to load a slim dishwasher: in a slim dishwasher every centimeter counts. Put plates in the lower basket in one row lengthwise, pots and pans at the side facing down, and glasses in the upper basket at an angle. If there’s a third drawer, as on the De’Longhi WMD20S, move the cutlery there to free space in the lower basket for another pot. Check that the spray arms turn freely before closing the door. Correct loading is the difference between a slim dishwasher that’s enough and one that frustrates.

Shabbat: on the slim models we checked, Shabbat mode doesn’t appear in the specs. If it matters to you, ask for written certification from a halachic institute for the model, and consult a rabbi about using delay start, which almost every model has, such as up to 24 hours on the Sauter SDW1045.

Which slim dishwasher to choose?

The best slim dishwasher for most homes is a 10-place-setting model, up to ⁦46 dB⁩, with flood protection and an official importer; from there, choose freestanding or built-in according to your kitchen.

By profile:

  • Low budget, couple: Sauter SDW1045 or De’Longhi WMD20S.
  • Low budget with a third drawer and flood protection: De’Longhi WMD20S.
  • Freestanding with good drying: Electrolux ESM43200SX.
  • New kitchen, hidden and quiet dishwasher: Electrolux EEM43200L.
  • Built-in Bosch: Bosch SPV2HKX42E, or the SPI2HKS42E if you want a visible panel.
  • Open kitchen, quietest freestanding: Bosch SPS4EMI11E, which we cover in our small dishwasher guide.

Questions before buying:

  • How many times a day will you run the dishwasher? If more than once, consider a full-size one.
  • Is the kitchen open? If so, ⁦44–⁦46 dB⁩⁩.
  • Is the dishwasher built in? If so, flood protection is a must.
  • Who fits the panel, and who pays for it?

Common mistakes:

  • Measuring the old cabinet instead of the net opening.
  • Forgetting the tap and trap behind the cabinet.
  • Buying a 9-place-setting model to save ₪100.
  • Not setting the water hardness and complaining about glasses with a white film.

If you’re renovating the whole kitchen, plan the oven and cooktop at the same time. In a particularly small kitchen, a slim dishwasher together with a ⁦60 cm⁩ combined oven is a common combination that saves space and money.

The bottom line

Width: ⁦44.6–⁦45 cm⁩⁩. Capacity: ⁦9–10⁩ place settings.
