Best 4-Door Refrigerator: 2026 Buying Guide

Updated November 6, 2026. Written by Binyamin Elkalay. Compared on specs and Israeli shop prices, no lab testing.

Short answer: a good 4-door refrigerator for an Israeli family now costs about ₪⁦7,000–9,000⁩ (NIS), with ⁦600–650⁩ liters net (about ⁦21–23⁩ cu ft), ⁦89–⁦91 cm⁩⁩ wide, with No Frost, an inverter compressor and a certified Shabbat mode. For an ⁦80 cm⁩ niche there are narrow models ⁦78–⁦79 cm⁩⁩ wide for about ₪⁦3,000–3,500,⁩ with less capacity. (In Israel, "4-door" means a French-door fridge with two freezer drawers below.)

We did not test the fridges physically. The comparison is based on specs from product pages, prices we saw in Israeli stores in November 2026 and importer warranty terms. First of all, measure the niche and the passages in your home: a 4-door fridge is the one whose dimensions are easiest to get wrong.

What to look at before buying

What to checkWhat it isOur recommendation
Width and passage for delivery4-door fridges come in two main widths: narrow (⁦78–⁦79 cm⁩⁩) and full (⁦89–⁦91.4 cm⁩⁩). Some manufacturers also state a minimum passage width for getting it in.⁦80 cm⁩ niche = narrow model only. ⁦92 cm⁩ niche and up = full model. Check the passage: the Sharp SJ-9270 needs ⁦93 cm⁩, and the Samsung RF70DB9125BK passes through ⁦62 cm⁩ after removing the doors.
DepthDepth including doors ranges from 63 to ⁦78 cm⁩, sometimes more on 840-liter models. A standard countertop is ⁦60 cm⁩ deep.If it matters to you that the fridge does not stick out, look for a body depth of ⁦60–⁦62 cm⁩⁩ (for example the Samsung RF70DB9125BK, ⁦60 cm⁩ body) and not just overall depth.
Net capacity and splitTotal capacity is split between two fridge doors on top and two freezer drawers or doors below. On some models one drawer is a flex compartment.Family of ⁦4–6⁩: ⁦380–410⁩ liters fridge and ⁦210–260⁩ liters freezer. If you cook ahead, prefer a freezer of 250 liters or more.
Shabbat modeDisables the light, sensors, fan and display. Some models are certified by a named halachic institute.Look for a named certification on the product page: for example Mishmeret HaShabbat (Sharp SJ-9270) or the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha (LG GR-930BDIS). Do not assume a sister model in the same series has the mode.
Power useOn the new energy label most 4-door fridges are marked E. The real difference is in kWh per year.At ⁦611–665⁩ liters, ⁦335–⁦360 kWh⁩⁩ a year is good; ⁦460 kWh⁩ is high for this capacity.
No Frost and inverterNo Frost prevents ice in the freezer drawers; an inverter compressor is quieter and gets a longer warranty.Make sure No Frost appears in the spec. On some product pages it is not mentioned explicitly, so ask the seller.
Importer and warrantyRalco (Sharp), Brimag (LG) and Newpro (Samsung) provide official warranty; there are also parallel-import models.Prefer the official importer with a ⁦9–10⁩ year compressor warranty. On Sharp, check the registration terms for the extension within 14 days of purchase.

Is a 4-door refrigerator right for you?

A 4-door refrigerator suits a family of 4 or more with an 80 or ⁦90 cm⁩ niche who want wide shelves for trays and convenient freezer drawers; for a couple in a small apartment it is usually unnecessary.

The design: two narrow doors for the fridge compartment on top, and two freezer drawers or doors below. The practical advantages:

  • A shelf the full width of the fridge: a Shabbat tray or wide pot fits without clearing space.
  • Narrow doors: less room needed to open than with one wide door, which matters in a crowded kitchen.
  • Freezer in drawers: no bending to search a deep freezer, and you can see what is in each drawer.
  • Flex compartment on some models: a drawer that switches between freezer and fridge, for example before a holiday.

The downsides: a higher price per liter than a top freezer, higher power use for the same capacity, and depth that usually sticks out past the countertop. If your budget is limited and you have a ⁦70 cm⁩ niche, a 438-liter top freezer for about ₪⁦2,700–3,100⁩ will give you more liters per shekel. All types are compared in our general best refrigerator guide, and for a family that needs more freezer space there is a separate best freezer guide.

4-door vs 2-door bottom freezer: both put the freezer at the bottom, but a 2-door bottom freezer is narrow (about ⁦60 cm⁩), so its shelves are narrow accordingly, and its capacity usually reaches ⁦340–580⁩ liters. A 4-door fridge is one and a half times wider, and gives room for two trays side by side. If your niche is ⁦60 cm⁩, the choice has been made for you. If it is ⁦90 cm⁩, a 4-door fridge uses it better.

4-door vs a wide top freezer: an ⁦86 cm⁩ top freezer like the Sharp SJ-GTR820G-BK gives, per the product page, 604 liters at ⁦310 kWh⁩ a year for about ₪4,900. That is less than a similar 4-door fridge, but the freezer is on top and less convenient to reach into, and the wide door needs room to open.

4-door fridge dimensions: width, depth and passage

There are two widths: narrow models of ⁦78–⁦79 cm⁩⁩ for an ⁦80 cm⁩ niche, and full models of ⁦89–⁦91.4 cm⁩⁩ for a niche of ⁦92 cm⁩ and up; depth and passage are checked separately.

What we found on product pages:

  • Tadiran TADR431GB: 78.3 wide, 182.5 high, ⁦63 cm⁩ deep.
  • Haier HRF-4494F: 79 wide, 180 high, ⁦70 cm⁩ deep.
  • Sharp SJ-9270 / SJ-8942: ⁦89–89.2⁩ wide, 183 high, ⁦77–⁦77.1 cm⁩⁩ deep, and a minimum passage of ⁦93 cm⁩.
  • Samsung RF70DB9125BK: 91 wide, 185 high, ⁦68 cm⁩ deep including doors and a ⁦60 cm⁩ body; ⁦62 cm⁩ passage after removing the doors.
  • Samsung RF72DG9620B1: 91 wide, 183 high, ⁦73 cm⁩ deep, ⁦61.5 cm⁩ body.
  • LG GR-728: 91.4 wide, 178.7 high, ⁦72.5 cm⁩ deep (⁦68 cm⁩ without doors).
  • LG GR-930BDIS: 91.4 wide, 179.2 high, and the page lists both ⁦91.8 cm⁩ deep and ⁦80 cm⁩ without doors. An 842-liter fridge is very deep.

The passage is the trap: an ⁦89 cm⁩ fridge that needs ⁦93 cm⁩ of clearance will not get through a standard front door without removing the doors, and sometimes not even after. For Samsung, per the product page, after removing the doors the body passes through ⁦62–⁦63 cm⁩⁩. Ask the store whether the movers remove and refit doors, and also measure the turn on the stairs.

Ventilation clearance: leave ⁦2–⁦3 cm⁩⁩ on each side and above. A 4-door fridge squeezed into an exact niche works harder and is noisier.

Height: most 4-door fridges are ⁦178–⁦185 cm⁩⁩ high. If there is an upper cabinet above the niche, check that a few centimeters remain for ventilation and that you can pull the fridge out for cleaning. A heavy fridge of 100 kg or more needs wheels or adjustable feet to level it on an uneven floor; an unlevel fridge can cause doors that do not close fully.

Fridge next to a wall: if one side of the fridge is against a wall or tall cabinet, the door on that side will not open fully, and the drawers behind it will not come out. Leave a few centimeters on the hinge side, and check the model's installation manual for how much room it needs to open the door to 90 degrees and pull out drawers and shelves for cleaning.

How many liters do you need in a 4-door fridge?

For a family of ⁦4–6,⁩ ⁦600–650⁩ liters net is the right size; ⁦415–472⁩ liters is enough for a couple or 3 people, and 840 liters suits a family of 7 or more.

Note how each manufacturer publishes capacity:

  • The Haier HRF-4494F is advertised as 472 liters, but net it is 268 liters fridge and 133 liters freezer, i.e. about 400 usable liters.
  • The Sharp SJ-9270 is advertised as 611 liters net: 395 fridge and 216 freezer.
  • The LG GR-728 is advertised as 665 liters: 404 fridge and 261 freezer.
  • The Samsung RF70DB9125BK is advertised as 636 liters: 386 fridge and 250 freezer, and with the flex compartment in fridge mode, 511 liters fridge and 125 liters freezer.
  • The LG GR-930BDIS is advertised as 842 liters: 468 fridge and 361 freezer.

Flex compartment: Samsung calls it Cool Select+. Before a holiday you can switch a freezer drawer to fridge mode and get another ⁦100–130⁩ liters for pots and drinks. If you host a lot, this is a feature worth paying more for than a screen or Wi-Fi.

Freezer: in a 4-door fridge the freezer is in drawers, so it is easy to organize. If you cook in quantity and freeze, look for 250 liters of freezer or more, or pair a 4-door fridge with a separate 6-drawer freezer.

How to calculate properly: count how many meals you cook ahead each week, how many cartons of milk and drinks you keep, and how much space produce takes. A family that buys vegetables once a week at the shuk needs large vegetable drawers and a 400-liter fridge compartment. A family that buys frozen goods in bulk or freezes challot and cakes for Shabbat needs a large freezer instead. In a 4-door fridge the freezer is split into two drawers, so it is easy to separate meat, fish and baked goods.

4-door fridge with Shabbat mode: what is certified and what is not

Most 4-door fridges in Israel are sold with a Shabbat mode, but only on some does the product page state a named halachic institute's certification, and some models have no Shabbat mode at all.

What we found on product pages:

  • Sharp SJ-9270: a built-in SHARP Glatt device certified by Mishmeret HaShabbat, activated from the display, for ⁦40–80⁩ hours.
  • LG GR-728 and LG GR-930BDIS: Shabbat-keeping, and the GR-930BDIS page says mehadrin certified by the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha.
  • Samsung RF70DB9125BK and RF72DG9620B1: a built-in Shabbat mode activated by pressing two buttons for 6 seconds, with no institute named on the page.
  • Tadiran TADR431GB: a Shabbat function, with no institute named.
  • Sharp SJ-9260-WH: the product page shows no Shabbat mode at all, despite almost identical capacity and dimensions to the SJ-9270.
  • Sharp SJ-8942BK: the page we read shows no Shabbat mode.

The lesson: within the same brand and capacity there are models with and without. The full model code is what decides. If Shabbat mode matters to you, ask the store or importer for the written certification for the exact model before paying. On fridges with a door-in-door, water dispenser or screen, also ask what happens with each of them in Shabbat mode.

How to activate it in practice: per the product pages, on Samsung you press two buttons together for 6 seconds, press again while the display flashes, and cancel with a 6-second press. On Sharp, activation is done from the digital display. Try it in the first week, before Shabbat, to make sure you know how to turn it on and off and that the light really does not come on when you open the door.

Power use of a 4-door fridge

A ⁦611–665⁩ liter 4-door fridge uses about ⁦335–⁦460 kWh⁩⁩ a year per product pages, so compare that number and not the E letter that appears on almost all of them.

The figures we saw:

  • Sharp SJ-9270 / SJ-8942 (611 liters): ⁦335 kWh⁩.
  • Samsung RF70DB9125BK (636 liters): ⁦350 kWh⁩.
  • Samsung RF60C7012SL (⁦649–664⁩ liters): ⁦362 kWh⁩ per one store.
  • Samsung RF72DG9620B1 (678 liters): ⁦368 kWh⁩.
  • LG GR-930BDIS (842 liters): ⁦420 kWh⁩.
  • LG GR-728 (665 liters): ⁦460 kWh⁩.

Note: the larger LG GR-930BDIS uses less than the smaller GR-728 per the spec. Large capacity does not automatically mean high consumption, so check each model.

On the old energy label scale, most of these fridges were A or A+; on the new scale they are E. Some stores show both ratings, so do not be alarmed by the letter.

To keep consumption low: do not place the fridge next to an oven or in the sun, leave ventilation space, and check the door seals. A 4-door fridge with narrow doors loses less cold with each opening than a fridge with one wide door.

What it means in money: every ⁦100 kWh⁩ a year is a difference of a few dozen shekels a year on the electricity bill, and over ⁦10–15⁩ years of use it adds up to hundreds of shekels or more. It should not decide things on its own, but between two fridges of similar price and capacity, annual consumption is a sensible tiebreaker.

An inverter compressor, which appears on almost every 4-door fridge we saw on product pages, slows down and speeds up as needed instead of switching off and on, so it is also quieter at night.

Official importer, parallel import and 4-door fridge warranty

Buy a 4-door fridge from the official importer and check the compressor warranty terms, because that is where the big difference between brands lies: 9 to 10 years on the compressor, and one year on everything else.

Per the product pages:

  • Sharp (Ralco): one-year warranty, with an option to extend the compressor warranty by 9 years for ₪149. Per the store site, you need to contact the service center and schedule a technician within 14 days of purchase.
  • LG (Brimag): one year, plus 9 more years on the compressor only, per the Brimag Digital warranty certificate.
  • Samsung (Newpro): one year, and 10 years on the Digital Inverter compressor.
  • Haier: one year, with an option to extend the compressor by 9 years for ₪199.
  • Tadiran: one year, per the Tadiran warranty certificate.

Parallel import: the Samsung RF72DG9620B1 is sold in one store marked "official importer: no", with a one-year warranty from Sam Line, for about ₪14,000. A 4-door fridge is a product that needs a technician at home, so it is important to know in advance who provides service and whether they have spare parts.

Price comparison: on the comparison page for the Samsung RF60C7012SL we saw a range of about ₪5,900 to ₪8,500 across dozens of stores. Compare the full code, and check that the price includes delivery, bringing it in and removing the old fridge.

What the warranty does not cover: on most warranty certificates the extra years cover only the compressor, not the electronic board, fans, seals or drawers. Delivery damage must be reported immediately on receipt. And a fault caused by an unauthorized technician opening the fridge may void the warranty, as the Sharp product page states explicitly.

Which 4-door fridge to buy: recommendation by situation

Choose by niche width and budget: ⁦80 cm⁩ and up to ₪3,500 = a narrow model; ⁦90 cm⁩ and Shabbat observance = a ⁦611–665⁩ liter model with institute certification; a kitchen where depth is critical = a model with a ⁦60 cm⁩ body.

  • ⁦80 cm⁩ niche, low budget: Haier HRF-4494F, or Tadiran TADR431GB if you need Shabbat mode and shallow depth.
  • Shabbat-observant family, ⁦90 cm⁩ niche: Sharp SJ-9270 certified by Mishmeret HaShabbat, or LG GR-728 with a larger freezer.
  • Very large family: LG GR-930BDIS with 842 liters, provided there is room for a depth of about ⁦80 cm⁩ or more.
  • Designer kitchen where the fridge must line up with the countertop: Samsung RF70DB9125BK with a ⁦60 cm⁩ deep body. If you want the fridge to disappear completely inside the cabinets, that is a built-in fridge.
  • Small apartment or ⁦60 cm⁩ niche: a 4-door fridge will not fit. Look for a 2-door bottom freezer or a small fridge.

If you are torn between the two big brands, read our Samsung vs LG refrigerator comparison, and if you are considering Sharp, see our Sharp refrigerator guide.

What to check in the store before ordering: the full model code including the color letters, width, depth including doors and minimum passage width, net fridge and freezer capacity, annual consumption in kWh, Shabbat mode and the certifying institute's name, official importer and the warranty provider's name, compressor warranty extension terms, delivery time and what delivery includes. A list of ten details, and if any is missing from the product page, ask before paying.

Finish: stainless steel, black stainless, white or black glass. A glass finish raises the price by hundreds to thousands of shekels for exactly the same fridge, does not affect cooling, and needs frequent wiping of fingerprints. Choose by the kitchen, not on the assumption that glass means a better fridge.

The bottom line

Width: ⁦78–⁦79 cm⁩⁩ (narrow) or ⁦89–⁦91 cm⁩⁩ (full). Recommended net capacity: ⁦600–650⁩ liters for a family of ⁦4–6.⁩

FAQ: 4 door refrigerator Israel

How much does a 4-door fridge cost in Israel?

Per store prices in November 2026, a narrow ⁦415–472⁩ liter 4-door fridge costs about ₪⁦2,900–3,700⁩; a full ⁦611–665⁩ liter model about ₪⁦7,000–9,000⁩; and glass, door-in-door or 842-liter models ₪⁦10,000–14,000.⁩

How wide is a 4-door fridge?

There are two main widths: narrow at ⁦78–⁦79 cm⁩⁩ (for example the Tadiran TADR431GB and Haier HRF-4494F) and full at ⁦89–⁦91.4 cm⁩⁩ (Sharp, Samsung and LG). Measure the niche and leave ⁦2–⁦3 cm⁩⁩ on each side.

Which 4-door fridge is best for Shabbat observers?

On the product pages we read, the Sharp SJ-9270 is shown with the Glatt device certified by Mishmeret HaShabbat, and the LG GR-930BDIS as mehadrin certified by the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha. Ask for the written certification for the exact model code.

Will a 4-door fridge fit through an apartment door?

Not always. The Sharp SJ-9270 needs a ⁦93 cm⁩ passage per the product page, and the Samsung RF70DB9125BK passes through ⁦62 cm⁩ only after removing the doors. Check with the store whether the movers remove doors.

Which is better, a 4-door or a side-by-side fridge?

In a 4-door fridge the top shelf is as wide as the whole fridge, so trays and pots fit easily. In a side-by-side the shelves are narrow and tall, and the freezer is on the side. For an Israeli family that cooks for Shabbat, a 4-door fridge is usually more convenient.

How much electricity does a 4-door fridge use?

Per product pages, ⁦335–⁦460 kWh⁩⁩ a year for ⁦611–665⁩ liter models, and ⁦420 kWh⁩ for the 842-liter model. Compare this number between models, since almost all are marked E on the new label.

Which Sharp is better: SJ-9270 or SJ-9260?

Per the product pages, both are 611 liters net and ⁦335 kWh⁩, but the SJ-9270 has the Glatt Shabbat device certified by Mishmeret HaShabbat, and the SJ-9260-WH page shows no Shabbat mode. If you keep Shabbat, the difference is decisive.

What is Samsung Cool Select+?

A flex compartment in Samsung 4-door fridges that switches between freezer and fridge. Per the RF70DB9125BK product page, in fridge mode fridge capacity goes from 386 to 511 liters, and the freezer drops to 125 liters.

How many years of warranty does a 4-door fridge have?

One year on the whole fridge, plus ⁦9–10⁩ years on the compressor only with official importers. On Sharp the 9-year compressor extension costs ₪149 and requires contacting them within 14 days, and on Samsung it is 10 years on the compressor.

Is there a 4-door fridge for an ⁦80 cm⁩ niche?

Yes. The ⁦78.3 cm⁩ Tadiran TADR431GB and the ⁦79 cm⁩ Haier HRF-4494F are examples we saw in stores. Their capacity is ⁦415–472⁩ liters, i.e. suitable for ⁦3–4⁩ people.
