Sharp Refrigerator: Which Model to Choose in 2026
Short answer: a Sharp 4-door refrigerator with 611 liters net (about 21.6 cu ft) costs per store prices about ₪8,500–10,000 (NIS), and a Sharp 2-door top freezer of about 600 liters about ₪4,900–7,000. The official importer is Ralco. For Shabbat observers, choose a model whose product page lists the SHARP Glatt device, like the SJ-9270, because not every Sharp model has a Shabbat mode.
We did not test the fridges physically. This guide is based on specs from product pages in Israeli stores, prices we saw in November 2026 and the warranty terms listed on the pages. Sharp is popular in Israel mainly for large fridges at a mid-range price, but the differences between similar models in the range are bigger than they look.
The short answer
Refrigerator, November 2026- Ralco
- 611 liters net, 89–89.2 cm wide
- 600–604 liters, 86 cm wide
- about ₪8,500–10,000
- about ₪4,900–7,000
- SHARP Glatt on some models
- 1 year + 9 years for ₪149

Sharp SJ-9270
4-door, 611 liters net (395 fridge / 216 freezer), 89 × 183 × 77.1 cm, 335 kWh, class E
Why: Per the product page it has a built-in SHARP Glatt Shabbat device certified by Mishmeret HaShabbat, which works for 40–80 hours. That is the key difference from the almost identical-looking SJ-9260.
Watch out: Needs a 93 cm passage to get in; No Frost is not mentioned explicitly on the page. Comes in several finishes (W, WH, IN, SL) with price differences.
Sharp SJ-8942BK
Black glass 4-door, 611 liters net (395 / 216), 89.2 × 183 × 77 cm, Inverter Tech-J, 335 kWh
Why: Per the product page it has the same capacity and consumption as the SJ-9270, with glass doors, an inverter compressor and Ralco warranty.
Watch out: About ₪1,000 more, and the page we read shows no Shabbat mode. Check the WH and BS versions if color matters.
Sharp SJ-GTR820G-BK
2-door top freezer, 604 liters gross (423 fridge / 181 freezer), 86 × 187 × 74 cm, No Frost, J-tech Inverter, 310 kWh
Why: Per the product page you get 604 liters with No Frost and inverter at 310 kWh a year, less than any Sharp 4-door, at about half the price.
Watch out: Shabbat mode is not mentioned on the product page; the freezer is on top, and the wide door needs room to open. Minimum width 90 cm.
Sharp SJ-4660SL
2-door top freezer, about 600 liters, 86 cm wide (per a range listing), class E on the new standard
Why: Per the comparison page, the model is sold in about 24 stores at about ₪5,300–7,000, so there is room to bargain, and some listings mention a Shabbat control.
Watch out: Shabbat mode was not confirmed on the page for the specific SL version, and the dimensions come from a range listing. Ask the seller for the full spec and Shabbat certification.
Prices in Israel: Refrigerator
A family that wants lots of liters per shekel: a top freezer of about 600 liters, 86 cm wide, relatively low consumption; the freezer on top is less convenient.
Most families who choose Sharp: 611 liters net, inverter and on the SJ-9270 the Glatt Shabbat device; needs a 93 cm passage to get in.
Anyone who wants a glass finish at the same capacity; you pay for the look, and the SJ-8942BK page shows no Shabbat mode.

What to look at before buying
| What to check | What it is | Our recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| 4-door or 2-door | On the Sharp 4-door the freezer is in drawers below; on the Sharp 2-door the freezer is a top compartment. In both cases total capacity is similar, about 600–611 liters. | If convenience and wide shelves for trays matter to you, 4-door. If budget decides and the niche is 86–90 cm, a 2-door top freezer will save a few thousand shekels. |
| Shabbat mode | Some Sharp models have a built-in Shabbat device called SHARP Glatt; others show no Shabbat mode on the product page. | Per the product page, the SJ-9270 includes the Glatt device certified by Mishmeret HaShabbat. The SJ-9260-WH and SJ-8942BK show no Shabbat mode. Check the full model code. |
| Dimensions and passage | Sharp 4-door fridges are 89–89.2 cm wide and about 77–79 cm deep; 2-door models are 86 cm wide and 74 cm deep. | A 4-door needs a passage of at least 93 cm per the product pages; the SJ-GTR820G-BK 90 cm. Measure the front door and kitchen before ordering. |
| Power use | Per the product pages, Sharp 4-door fridges use 335 kWh a year, and the 604-liter 2-door model 310 kWh. | These are good figures for this capacity. Compare them with 640–665 liter competitors using 350–460 kWh. |
| No Frost | The SJ-GTR820G-BK page lists No Frost explicitly; on the 4-door model pages we read the term does not appear, and a hybrid cooling system with a fan is described. | If No Frost is a requirement for you, ask the seller for written confirmation for the 4-door model you chose. |
| Warranty and importer | Ralco gives a one-year warranty, and the compressor extension is paid and conditional. | Per the product pages: 9 more years on the compressor for ₪149, provided you contact the service center and schedule a technician within 14 days of purchase. Do not skip it. |
Is a Sharp refrigerator worth buying?
A Sharp refrigerator suits a family that wants a large capacity of about 600 liters at a mid-range price and service from a long-established official importer, provided you choose the exact model by Shabbat mode and dimensions.
Per the product pages we read, Sharp's ranges in Israel fall into two groups:
- Sharp 4-door: SJ-9270, SJ-9260 and SJ-8942 and similar, all 611 liters net (395 fridge and 216 freezer), 89–89.2 cm wide and 183 cm high. Stores also list smaller 4-door models of about 401 liters net, like the SJ-8435 range.
- Sharp 2-door: top freezer, like the SJ-GTR820G-BK and SJ-4660, with about 600–604 liters at 86 cm wide.
Advantages per the spec: large net capacity relative to width, consumption of 310–335 kWh a year, which is low relative to competing fridges of similar capacity, an inverter compressor, and the Glatt Shabbat device on some models.
Disadvantages per the spec: a depth of about 77–79 cm on the 4-door, which sticks out well past the countertop, the need for a 93 cm passage to get in, and No Frost not appearing explicitly on the 4-door pages.
If you are not yet sure about the fridge type, start with our general best refrigerator guide and our 4-door refrigerator guide.
How to read a Sharp model code: the number indicates the range (for example 9270 or 8942), and the letters at the end indicate the finish: W or WH white, IN or SL stainless and black stainless, BK black, BS gray. Some stores write the code with a hyphen and some without, like SJ-9270-W and SJ-9270W. When comparing prices, make sure it is the same range and the same finish, because the finish changes the price by hundreds of shekels.
Sharp 4-door: SJ-9270, SJ-9260 or SJ-8942?
The three models are almost completely identical in capacity (611 liters net), width and consumption (335 kWh); the differences are Shabbat mode and finish, so for Shabbat observers the SJ-9270 is the choice, and for anyone who wants glass without Shabbat mode, the SJ-8942.
The comparison per the product pages:
- SJ-9270: 611 liters net, 89 × 183 × 77.1 cm, class E and 335 kWh, SHARP Glatt Shabbat device certified by Mishmeret HaShabbat. Finishes: white, stainless, black stainless. Price: about ₪8,500–9,000.
- SJ-9260-WH: 611 liters net, 89.2 × 183 × 78.9 cm, 335 kWh, Inverter Tech-J compressor, T marking for the tropical climate class. The product page shows no Shabbat mode, and the rating is listed as F. Price: about ₪8,600.
- SJ-8942BK: 611 liters net, 89.2 × 183 × 77 cm, class E and 335 kWh, black glass doors, inverter. The page we read shows no Shabbat mode. Price: about ₪10,000.
The conclusion: the price difference between the SJ-9260 and SJ-9270 is small, and if there is any chance you will need Shabbat mode, there is no reason to give it up. If you see a good price in a store for a model without 70 at the end of the code, ask explicitly whether it has the Glatt device.
Passage and dimensions: on all the Sharp 4-door models we saw, the product page states a minimum width of 93 cm. That is not the niche width, but the space the fridge needs to pass through and get in. In apartments with an 80–90 cm front door, ask the store about removing doors.
Depth in the kitchen: a standard countertop is about 60 cm deep, and a Sharp 4-door is about 77–79 cm deep including doors. In other words, the fridge will stick out about 17–19 cm from the cabinet line. In a kitchen with a narrow passage in front of the fridge, check that the doors and drawers open without blocking the passage. If that is a problem, consider a fridge with a smaller body depth, or a 2-door at 74 cm deep.
Smaller 4-door models: stores also list Sharp 4-door models of about 401 liters net, like the SJ-8435 and SJ-8420SL, in black glass or stainless. We did not open their spec pages, so we did not include them in the recommendations; if your niche is smaller than 90 cm, ask the seller for the exact dimensions.
Sharp 2-door: a large top freezer at a low price
A Sharp 2-door top freezer gives about 600 liters at 86 cm wide for about ₪4,900–7,000, i.e. almost the capacity of a Sharp 4-door at half to two-thirds of the price.
Per the product page, the SJ-GTR820G-BK gives 604 liters gross and 601 liters net: 423 liters fridge and 181 liters freezer. Dimensions are 86 × 187 × 74 cm, with a minimum width of 90 cm. It has No Frost, a J-tech Inverter compressor and class E at 310 kWh a year, less than Sharp's 4-door fridges.
The SJ-4660 is another common model in the range, at about 600 liters. On the comparison page we saw it is sold in about 24 stores at about ₪5,300 to ₪7,000, in several colors (SL, W, BK, DS). Some listings mention a Shabbat control, but not for the specific version, so it needs to be confirmed with the seller.
Who it suits: a family of 4–5 with a 90 cm niche, who wants large capacity and does not mind the freezer being on top. A 423-liter fridge compartment takes wide trays, since the shelves are almost 80 cm wide.
What you give up: convenient freezer drawers, narrow doors that take less space when opening, and on some models Shabbat mode. If Shabbat mode matters to you, look for a 2-door model whose product page explicitly lists a Shabbat control; stores list such models, like the SJ-4650 range.
How much room the door needs: on an 86 cm wide 2-door fridge, the fridge door is almost as wide as the whole fridge. When it opens to 90 degrees it takes about 86 cm in front of the fridge. In a narrow kitchen this may block the passage, and on a fridge against a wall on the hinge side the door will not open fully and drawers cannot be pulled out. Measure the distance in front of the fridge before choosing between 2 and 4 doors.
2-door vs 4-door consumption: per the product pages, the SJ-GTR820G-BK uses 310 kWh a year and the 4-door models 335 kWh. The difference is small, and both types are efficient relative to competing fridges of similar size, so the consideration here is mainly convenience and price.
The SHARP Glatt Shabbat device: what is known
The SHARP Glatt device is a built-in Shabbat mode on some Sharp models, which per the SJ-9270 product page is certified by Mishmeret HaShabbat and works for 40–80 hours; it does not exist on every model.
What the product pages say:
- SJ-9270 (Payngo): a built-in Shabbat device, SHARP Glatt, certified by Mishmeret HaShabbat, activated from the digital display for a period of 40 to 80 hours.
- SJ-9270-WH (Traklin): a built-in SHARP Glatt mechanism, adapted for Shabbat use.
- SJ-9260-WH and SJ-8942BK: the pages we read show no Shabbat mode.
- SJ-GTR820G-BK: the product page shows no Shabbat mode.
Why 40–80 hours: to cover a regular Shabbat and also a Shabbat next to a holiday (Yom Tov), without needing to touch the fridge. At the end the fridge returns to normal mode.
What to check:
- Ask for the Mishmeret HaShabbat certification for the full model code including the finish.
- Try activating it before the first Shabbat.
- Ask what happens with the fan, light and open-door alert in Shabbat mode.
If you are comparing Sharp with other brands for Shabbat observance, see our Samsung vs LG refrigerator comparison: it lists models certified by the Scientific-Technological Institute for Halacha.
What to do if the model you liked has no Shabbat mode: there are two options. The first: choose the sibling model with the Glatt device, for example the SJ-9270 instead of the SJ-9260, at a small price difference. The second: check with the importer whether there is a certified solution for the specific model. Do not rely on improvised solutions like only disconnecting the bulb in a fridge with sensors and a fan, and check with your rabbi what is needed.
Sharp warranty and Ralco: 1 + 9 years on the compressor
The basic warranty on an official-importer Sharp fridge is one year, and the compressor warranty can be extended by 9 years for ₪149, provided you register and schedule a technician within 14 days of purchase.
Per the product pages:
- Ralco is the official importer of Sharp fridges in Israel, as listed at both Payngo and Traklin.
- Compressor warranty extension: 9 more years for ₪149, paid directly to the service provider. Payngo states that you need to contact the service center and schedule a technician within 14 days of purchase, and that the product must be opened by an authorized technician. At Traklin the promotion appears with 2025 validity dates, so make sure it is still valid.
- The extension covers only the compressor. The electronic board, fans, seals and drawers are covered in the first year only.
Parallel import: if you see a Sharp fridge at a price significantly lower than all the stores, check whether it is marked official importer and who provides the warranty. A model that did not come through Ralco may lack the Glatt device and the warranty extension option.
Price comparison: for the SJ-4660 we saw a range of about ₪1,700 between the cheapest and most expensive store on a comparison page. On a 600-liter fridge, it is worth spending ten minutes comparing, and making sure the price includes delivery, bringing it in and removal.
What to do if it breaks: contact the importer's service center with the model number, serial number and purchase date. Keep the invoice and the warranty extension registration confirmation. Do not let an unauthorized technician open the fridge during the warranty, because per the product page that is a warranty condition.
Maintenance that extends the fridge's life: every few months clean dust from the condenser and ventilation openings, check the door seals, and do not overload the shelves beyond the weight listed in the manual. A fridge working in the right conditions reaches the technician less, even after the warranty ends.
Sharp vs competitors: what you get at each price
In the ₪8,500–9,000 range a Sharp 4-door gives 611 liters net at 335 kWh with a Shabbat device; LG and Samsung competitors give more liters or a shallower body, but sometimes use more electricity.
Comparison per the product pages:
- LG GR-728 (665 liters): about ₪7,200–7,700, a larger freezer (261 liters), Shabbat-keeping certified by an institute, but 460 kWh a year.
- Samsung RF70DB9125BK (636 liters): about ₪13,500–14,000, 60 cm deep body and flex compartment, 350 kWh.
- Haier HRF-4494F (472 liters gross): about ₪2,900–3,300, 79 cm wide, much smaller net capacity.
- Sharp SJ-9270 (611 liters net): about ₪8,500–9,000, 335 kWh, Glatt device.
In other words: Sharp is strong in consumption and net capacity, and weak in depth. If your kitchen is deep enough and there is a 93 cm passage, it is a sensible choice. If depth is critical, a Samsung with a 60 cm body or a built-in fridge will suit better.
On the cheap side: if the budget is up to ₪5,000 and you need large capacity, the Sharp 2-door SJ-GTR820G-BK gives 604 liters. If space is limited to a 60 cm niche, none of the Sharp models we saw will fit, and a 60 cm Samsung or LG bottom freezer is better.
What about an extra freezer: many families who buy a Sharp 2-door with a top freezer of about 180 liters add a 6-drawer freezer on the service balcony. This combination gives more freezer capacity than a 4-door fridge, and sometimes at a lower total price. Our recommendations are in our best freezer guide.
Budget vs convenience: the difference between a Sharp 2-door and a Sharp 4-door is about ₪3,500–4,000 per store prices. In return you get freezer drawers at the bottom, narrow doors and a Shabbat device on the SJ-9270. If you open the freezer several times a day and bend down to search, it is worth the difference; if you freeze little, a 2-door will do.
And for anyone who needs especially large freezer space, a Sharp 2-door fridge with a separate freezer on the balcony is a combination worth calculating.
Before ordering a Sharp fridge: checklist
Before ordering, confirm five things: the full model code including finish, Shabbat mode per the product page, a passage width of 93 cm (or 90 cm on the 2-door model), Ralco as official importer, and the registration terms for the compressor warranty extension.
In the store or online:
- Compare exactly the same code, for example SJ-9270-W vs SJ-9270-IN, not a similar range.
- Make sure the page says official importer and names Ralco.
- If you need Shabbat mode, look for the words SHARP Glatt and Mishmeret HaShabbat certification on the page of the model itself.
- Check what is included in the price: delivery, carrying up to your floor, removing doors if needed, and removing the old fridge.
On arrival day:
- Check for scratches, dents and cracks in the glass before signing.
- Let the fridge stand before plugging it in, per the manual's instruction.
- Connect to a dedicated grounded outlet without a power strip.
- Activate the Glatt device once as a test before Shabbat.
In the first two weeks:
- Contact the service center and schedule the visit required for the compressor warranty extension. Per the product page, you have 14 days.
- Check that temperatures stabilize: about 4°C in the fridge and -18°C in the freezer.
If you are replacing other kitchen appliances, see also our best dishwasher and best freezer guides, and if your niche is narrower than 89 cm, go back to our best refrigerator guide and check the options at 60, 70 and 80 cm wide.
The bottom line
